WHY Protein during pregnancy is SO important!

There is So much information out there on what's good and not good for you when you are pregnant, but lets touch on a topic - Protein!

What is it even? Proteins are made of something called amino acids, and are the building blocks of life and are present in every cell in our body. Protein is vital to our bodies in functioning and maintaining tissues, bones, muscles, cartilage and skin. Protein is also critical for ensuring the proper growth of baby's tissues and organs, including the brain. It also helps mammas with breast and uterine tissue growth during pregnancy to grow that baby. It even plays a role in your increasing blood supply, allowing more blood to be sent to your baby through your placenta!

So these amino acids (protein!)💪 that you eat, develop the cells, tissues, muscles and organs of the baby, especially in the Third Trimester where most of the physical growth happens! And how much protein should you be taking through pregnancy and your breastfeeding journey?
